We are all living a reality that we don’t believe to be true. Staying home feels like the most horrible nightmare. Yet, we need to live it and do the best to not enter an emotional crisis. For this, here I bring you tips to not bore during quarantine!
1. Accept
Yes, first accept reality. Accept that you are at home and that you need to stay. Don’t think of the desire to go out. Look through the light and enjoy the view of it. Accept that, as Saldarriaga (2017) said, you are in the best scenario you can be: your home and feel as if you were your own host.
2. Do something new
Even if you don't like something, try now, only as experience. If you have never cooked, do it for the ones you live with or for yourself. If you have never decorated something, try to put your style to a place or object in your home. If you have never searched for something around your home, try to. You will find beautiful memories. Be creative with you!
3. Help
You would not feel bored if you give help. Begin with something simple, help in home tasks, you could enjoy it! Save some food to donate to the neighbors that lack it, try to call and listen to people that need support, or try to create and propose activities that can motivate people. Your idea to help can help not only others but also you.
4. Learn
Ok, this doesn't sound good, but there are many ways you can like learning. What if you search a phrase in a different language each day? You could end being a polyglot! What if you make interesting quick tests that are everywhere on the internet about your favorite topic? You will be surprised with the facts that you learn. Think of things that allow you to rest, have fun and learn at the same time. Learning shapes your identity!
5. Do what you were waiting for
“Later”, “Maybe tomorrow”, “We have time” need to disappear. This is the opportunity to do what you were waiting for. If you wanted to wear a shirt for a “special occasion”, wear it now, this is the special occasion. If you always had an idea rounding your mind, take it out and put it in reality. You could become a successful entrepreneur! If you want to come back or begin a hobby, do it. So, if you like music, listen to genres, compose songs, or play instruments. This would avoid your boredom, I guarantee you!
6. Continue….
Not so much No, don't worry, it is not to follow your daily routine at home, you only need to continue a little of what you were used to, because that identifies you. Try to follow the distribution of hours you had, and if you want to change them try it step by step. If you were used to walking or going to the gym, walk in your home, or do your own home training. If you are used to having celebrations, continue celebrating from home, by dancing for example!
