The Intelligent Investor Will Make You Rich!!

Image
Image: Kobo Only take a look around you, Who is the world's seventh-wealthiest person?, probably you think about some entrepreneurs, like Elon Musk, Carlos Slim, Bill Gates, or Mark Zuckerberg, but what happens if I told you of someone who doesn’t necessarily create a company from zero, and it’s the owner of many important business in the world, and it has a net worth of 82.8 billion dollars?  Yes, it’s Warren Buffet, the most important investor of today’s time, but what make Warren Buffet no only the most important investor but also having 82.8 billion dollars? Probably is the estratropheric IQ?, or Insider Information?, or what ignorant says that it’s about luck?, instead what’s needed is a sound intellectual framework for making decisions, combines with an ability to keep emotions from ruining it.  In the “Intelligent Investor”, benjamin Graham presents such a framework together with logic that will help to keep your emotions under control. Arguably, he’s investing s...

Why “Discipline equals freedom” will change your life

Image
Image: Amazon  Luis Felipe Montoya Former navy seal Jocko Willink wrote this book back in 2017 to try and explain to anyone reading it why discipline is very easy to obtain and will always help you out. The book touches topics such as self-indulgence, lack of willpower, and how to become disciplined. My favorite quote from the book is “ Don’t count on motivation, count on discipline”. That quote itself is the entire book. Jocko talks about why you shouldn’t procrastinate at all “take action. And don’t let another day slip by”, the chapter “sugar-coated lies” explains it pretty well, it takes donuts for example. Sweetness and pure self-indulgence, zero control over oneself, and all forgiveness for one’s mistakes. But Jocko says no.  He says that every “donut” chance you get, avoid it, the only thing those actions will make is to put you down later, make you feel weak and gullible. He calls the metaphorical donuts poison. Because that’s what they are for you; all those ti...

Why I wouldn't make the choice that Luke Skywalker did

Image
Image: Penguin Random House Jae Hwi Lee Sep 15, 2020  Me as the mania of fantasy and more from the Star Wars saga. Every time I was thinking about what would happen if Luke Skywalker joins the sith power with his dad Darth Vador. Fans like me and you would have this all the time in our mind. I would love to make a new story or bookmaking with different choice-making like the book doesn’t present.  I want to talk about the book from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back. A story about like all the sagas, going to destroy the death star, the sith power, and making peace in the galaxy. However, the interesting point of this saga focuses on the character “Luke Skywalker” starting with his unspecified family story and finding out his force, but in the end, he discovers by himself about where his force comes from, and his lost father.  At that point, in the lightsaber duel between Luke and Darth Vador, Darth Vador tells him “I’m your father” and calls him to become a sith, ...

Image: Vulture Adriana Campos Ramos.                  September 22, 2020 I am not that type of person that expresses with words i would rather be expressing myself with actions and you will see why in a moment. Why I Love Playing Quidditch

Image
Image: Business Insider Harry Potter           April 16, 1993 Today, Gryffindor defeated Ravenclaw in the Quidditch Match, it was incredible. Although some unusual weather was upon us during the game. Before we had won against Hufflepuff, but this time was even more of an important match, this game will take us to winning the Quidditch Cup.  This time, there were Dementors everywhere, later after the match, I was told that they weren’t Dementors, it was Draco Malfoy and his friends trying to distract me from winning the game, they had some coats on them trying to scare me, maybe it was out of jealousy, but I didn’t let them get me distracted, instead I used my Patronus, since I thought that they were actual Dementors, and ended up winning the game. Teachers told me I gave Draco quite a scare, that’s enough to make my day. Also, I had a brand-new broom, everyone was impressed with, they wanted to look at it, touch it and even use it. But of cours...

Nicola Yoon's Everything, Everything: would you be willing to give it all?

Image
Image: Amazon by Juana Vargas Have you ever done something crazy for love? In Nicholas Yoon book we see that the characters do crazy things for love, and those things bring a lot of teachings, and that is why I really liked the book ,very beautiful, and with many messages. I liked it because it shows us how you can do crazy things out of fear, and that love is not chosen if you don't feel it. We can see how fear makes you do crazy things when ****** SPOILER ALERT ****** the mother invents that Madie has a disease called SCID, and the mother invents it to protect her, since her husband and son died, and she did not want to lose her.And we see how love at first sight exists when **** SPOILER ALLERT **** Madie risks her life, just because she really fell in love, and wants to live her life with Olly.   This book talks about how loving someone can be so beautiful or so stressful. The book shows this when we discover that the mom of Maddie invents the desease because she w...

One of those books that makes you want to fall in love: “A walk to remember ” Nicholas Sparks

Image
Image: Wikipedia by Sara Duque When I decided I wanted to read “A walk to remember” , I had really high expectations; I said to myself “Another romance novel from my favorite autho r m ust be good.” When I ended it I had to admit it filled completely my expectations. One of the things that I most like about Nicholas Sparks is that he makes me empathize with the characters. He makes me feel their love , their pain, their sadness. That feeling of wanting an epic love, of changing, that feeling of wanting to be better.  The complete book is narrated from the voice of Landon. He was retelling his love story with Jamie, which I think makes it more emotional, because in each step of the story, we have the first hand emotions and thoughts from Landon . For example the first time he tells her he loves her, “I love you, Jamie,” I said to her. “You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.” You really feel that extraordinary feeling , those butterflies on the stomach, because w...

A true life lesson: Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, reviewed.

Image
Image: britannica.com by Al. Diaz “It’s a classic” My English teacher told me last year when I chose to read, To Kill a Mocking Bird by Harper Lee. However, I didn’t hope to like it, I thought I’d be bored by its numerous pages. And indeed, I spent almost the whole year trying to read it but failed and only reached the second chapter. This book does not follow a chronological timeline, the events are told as memories; so for me to understand what was happening wasn’t easy and then being bombarded with historical information I didn’t get made it even more challenging to get hooked. But the real mistake here was my inconsistency. For future readers, that is precisely what you need. This year I tried again, and gladly I can say I was able to read great part of the book. Although I still struggle with the comprehension of some words (due to the epoch the story is based in), it didn’t stop me from getting engaged. Who would’ve thought it to be so reflective? I can tell you I did...
