An Adventure Without Limits

Being a normal teenager like everyone else. I must comply with house rules and fulfill my duties both at school and at home. My day-to-day life is such a boring routine that basically I do the same as always, I do not know if my life makes sense and if I am really living it to the fullest. I only hear my mom say "You did your homework", "You have to do your homework" "Fix your room", "Take the dogs out" blah blah blah. Every single day is the same. I think I'm going crazy. Was Friday, a normal day. I was in the mall buying clothes. I realized that every time I went shopping I wanted to buy everything, I wanted clothes, shoes, computers,  to travel around the world, etc.  I made plans in my head but the reality was different. I stopped for a moment and I saw a young girl of my age, about 18, who was going from store to store, buying everything, without seeing the prices. A whole adventure went through my head a crazy adventure but I didn’t imagine the consequences that this could have

 

 

Walking, the girl accidentally bumped into me but it was not really like that. I had already planned what I wanted to do. She dropped her shopping bags and her wallet. I told her “sorry sorry, it was an accident”. I helped her pick up the bags but I kept her wallet, and she did not even notice, my head started to tell me that this was an adventure. I did a crazy thing. It was what I wanted the most, not because of envy but the sensation and the adventure of being able to buy everything. I walked away as if nothing had happened.

In a matter of seconds. I opened the wallet and was surprised with the wonderful credit cards she had from world banks, without thinking about it. I took the gold card and started my journey to a great adventure. I stole Martina's card and I went straight to buy everything I wanted.

The first store I saw was the Mac store. I went in and I felt like I was in paradise. I bought cell phones of all colors, with all the GB. I bought computers, headphones, apple watches, liners, everything from that store. People looked at me terrified but I was in my world. I went to pay and they told me that everything I bought cost USD 30,000 and I swiped the card as if nothing and I had so many bags of Mac that I could not carry them all.  I saw that I had so many bags, then I said in my mind “If I have a lot of bags why don't I go and buy a car?”.

I decided to go buy a car. I bought a Porsche. It was so easy that they gave it to me in one and I put all my purchases there. While I was driving I started to take out some cell phones that I bought and I just handed them to people there as if nothing and people went crazy, they wanted everything. I went to my house without caring that my parents were there to complain to me, and they didn't even know what to say,  "Where did you get all that?" "You stole?" my parents asked me.

 I was really in my world.  I was on an extraordinary adventure. I went straight, and my brother realized all that I had. "Give me some of that," said my brother,  and I gave him some of what I bought. I felt an extraordinary world.  This is an adventure, was what I needed. This is adrenaline. This was not planned.  I just wanted to get out of that routine that was driving me crazy. I wanted to live my life in another way. I wanted to live my life as an adventure as if it was the last day, no matter the consequences, no matter what.

I went again to the mall to buy many more things, but because of this advanced technology that we have, the credit card was tracked and Martina was getting all the notifications of purchase, of all that I had spent and enjoying buying in this crazy adventure. I had not realized that and I just kept buying but then they saw me in a store buying more things as I went to a clothing store. That cost me USD 10.000 and I swiped again the credit card.  This is quite an adrenaline rush. The people who were attending to me did not know why I wanted so much stuff. Minutes after I left the store Martina saw me. She remembered that she had just bumped into me and only I had helped her pick up her stuff, so I was the only one guilty there. I realized that and I went running. I drop her wallet at the lost and found. This was crazy and I just got lost, and let's say Martina found her wallet, but then this isn't enough.

Martina was going to do something to capture me? I don't know, 5 DAYS LATER ... my parents found out that something had happened at the mall, that a girl had stolen some credit cards and was just spending them and buying everything. My parents asked me if I knew anything, or if I was aware of what was happening. “I really don't know anything about it”.

I answered.

They started to tell me then where did I get all those things I bought."It was you!  "When I went up to my room, my parents asked me. I heard my parents saying "Do you really think she would do something like that" "we have to do something".

At that moment I thought, “I have to get out of here”. They didn't even know about the car I bought.  I was keeping it somewhere else. All night I started to think about where I was going to go to get out of that house since this adventure is not over yet. There are many experiences that I am living and it is crazy. I thought and thought.  THE NEXT DAY... at night my parents were already asleep. Everything I bought was in the car. I took some food and I left. I was driving for many hours looking for a hotel far away from where to stay, but then you can imagine what happened?. The police traced my license plate!!. I only started driving faster. Maybe the police were chasing me but, what happened next? I drove as fast as possible. I felt like I was on a roller coaster. This was getting crazier and crazier. 

My parents started calling me  "Did something happen to me?", "Why aren’t you at home?". My parents asked me.  I didn't answer at first. Then I was tired of them calling me so much and I answered them.  “I went for a walk alone,” I answered and they got crazier than they were, so I hung up on them. Minutes later, they called me saying that the police were at the house looking for me. They had no idea what was going on. The police told them that I was the one who stole the credit cards. They couldn't imagine it.

They started asking my parents where I was, to tell them where I went, said the police.  I didn't tell them anything. I realized that behind me the police were following me and I just screamed and said "WOOOOO, I'M LIVING AN ADVENTURE! !" and I kept going as if I was in a race, or not. These were cops and robbers. My parents called me and I didn’t answer. I imagine that now they know that I was the person who made that, to take all that credit cards, but then the police can’t catch me.  I take another way so they didn’t see me, Martina really knows that it was me. I only go far away from that place. I want to live more adventures, more experiences in my life. This adventure does not yet end. A lot of things are gonna happen. This adventure is the meaning in my life,  so at the moment that I thought that I lost the police, it wasn't like that.

I start screaming, trying to look for a place to hide. While I was driving I saw some Hotels, but they looked very weird. Honestly, those hotels look very scary, so I decided to look for another place but it doesn't work. I didn't have time and the police arrested me and took me to a police station. I waited like 3 hours there. “Why don't you let me go?”  “Let me go!!” I asked the police,  but he said that they needed to contact my parents and come for me, 2 hours later. “Mom Dad!! Take me out of here, please.” “I have been here a lot of time,” I said,  “What did you do?” "If you want an adventure, go traveling! What is wrong with you” my parents ask me, okay mom and dad  I’m gonna tell you the truth and be honest with both of you, the reason that I do all of this, and I have this attitude is because.  I’m tired of my life, each day I do the same thing, and you always tell me the same thing.  I want to live my life another way, something different if you didn’t notice. I have dreams.  I want to make a lot of things, but you never gave me attention, you always leave me behind everything, and I do this, first, because I want to make an extraordinary thing in my life and second, that you pay me attention, that you listen to me, and if you didn’t notice I love art.  I love to paint, and I want to focus on that, they look down, they even know what to say.

 

1 month later…, After I think a lot, about what my parents told me a few months about taking

1 year of vacation, despite my mind,  to make more adventures, and to find my purpose.

I decided to travel around the world, and make a lot of things, live a lot of adventures and good moments, during that course time. I take into account make action to my future, and I decide to focus on art to follow my dreams. It was not the easiest thing to try to achieve that dream because my inspiration was not coming and no one believed in me, in my journey. I decided to go to an art gallery to look for inspiration and walking around I met a tall guy, with brown hair, brown eyes, a wonderful smile, and a very friendly person, that was love at first sight honestly, I only leave that amazing moment. With time we became friends and we realized that we had the same passions for art and more things, we decided to be together and live an adventure both, we could create our art studio, he and my passion for art became my happiness and the meaning of my life. I will start to live a new life, a new adventure with what I love the most, and live a new adventure.

PHILOSOPHY 

I wrote this story to explore more about if life is base on having adventures, is a risk, you need to dare to make, to live extraordinary things, and a lot of moments, that when you remember that moments, then you said, thanks for that moments my life has a meaning, that adventures  I live have a meaning, since, in this story that I wrote “An Adventure Without Limit'' that is based on a girl of 18-year old that makes all that adventures that change her life since at the beginning her life doesn’t have a meaning, her life is very boring, she does the same thing each day, and she says that is the moment to make a big adventure and to enjoy her life since she thinks that her life is being wasted, so the question that I raised “Is the meaning of life going as an adventure?”.

The answer to this philosophical question that I raised in the story: Well can see in this story that it supports the point of view of the philosopher Viktor Frankl since he says that we can find meaning through love, but he says that the word “love” is a big idea, so he defined in two parts, the first is experiencing the moment, which means living the moment, doing nothing, just living it,  and the second one is experiencing someone, means experiencing the value of another person through love.

 So in this story, we can see that they experienced love in a moment when she says” that was love at first sight honestly, I only leave that amazing moment” she only let that moment flow, and when she finds that meaning through love when she says “ I met a tall guy, with brown hair, brown eyes, a wonderful smile, and a very friendly person, that was love, at first sight” she finds that love, that over time he converts one of her inspirations, without being something expected,  they only let that moment be something passive since this moment Frankl would define as a moment of love, that they were not doing anything but they have connected a living that moment in detail, the second one is a job that, can be by writing, a play, literature, etc or something that in the course of the story this can help you to solve a doubt. In this case, she finds this through art, she focuses on this as a way of inspiration, she wants to make a change in her life so through art she finds this.  That also the last one is something that you can’t avoid, you dont have the power to change that situation but we always can choose our attitude toward that situation, we have that challenge to change ourselves, so in the story, we can see that doesn’t matter what she does in the past, but after all of this she learned about all the mistakes she does, and she decides to continue and change her attitude and become a better person,  that is a triumph and with that, she became to be a hero, the best way to see life is learning from mistakes because lessons are learned from them that then this turn into successes, so we see on the story at the end she finds a new path, she starts creating a new life, eventually she recognizes what should not be done and start a different path thanks to all those things that have been experienced.

But when she realizes in few months, that she needs to make something to get that inspiration that having adventures can also be in good ways, I mean, she starts living crazy adventures since she was tired of her boring and not meaningful life but then all of that changes. I find this quote from Viktor Franks that can be related “Live as if you were living a second time, and as if you had acted badly the first time” we can relate to this with the story since the narrator after a lot of things happened, and a lot of adventures that she do, and crazy things, she starts living a new life, since we can say that at the beginning as in this quote says “I helped her pick up the bags but I kept her wallet, and she did not even notice, my head started to tell me that this was an adventure. I did a crazy thing” we notice that she do a crazy thing of stealing a credit card and during the course of the story the police arrest her, and each time she does something crazier, but then as I said before she starts to live a new life since she thinks a lot of what she does before and the mistakes she commits, she starts leaving in a good way a good life.

In conclusion, we can say that this story “An Adventure Without Limit” has different things related to the point of view of Viktor Frankl, we see that she find that meaning that she needs through the three ways that Frankl says we can find it, filling that “existential vacuum” of a person, in this case, the girl, since that vacuum was because the boredom she has in her life, waiting for that meaning she needed, so her meaning is the adventures that complement with love, job, and incredible adventures since also Franks says that “love and its essence are the basis of the human being”.  She has a new beginning, living a new incredible life, but this story is not only making risk and just having fun but as I said before is leaning from your mistakes and become better because that's what life is all about, making mistakes and getting,  better because the failures are also positive, is good commit errors, just as the character in my story did, thanks to all of this she start a new life, and I feel that this is a good message I can send to the readers because even though life is hard, every lesson and every stumble that life gives us shapes us more as a person and makes us not to make more mistakes in the future and that they know that from any mistakes we learned something and that in life we’re gonna have many good and bad moments, but the importance is what we learned and how we see that.
